If the Lord Should Choose to Tarry...

...I pray the only reason is that, in His sovereign and gracious will, He desires to allow me and other followers of Christ to witness what I witnessed today.

In light of the garbage to which I subjected you in my last two posts, I am pleased to bring you the following story. The contrast could not be more stark--the contrast between darkness and light. I've subjected you to the darkness of false faith. Now, allow me to expose you to some light--the precious light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

But before I share the story, I just want to publicly thank my brother-in-law (as much a brother to me as if we had come from the same womb), Ian, for going "fishing" with me, today. Ian was behind the camera.

Jose (pictured above) was our guest during the first hour of today's edition, of The Way of the Master Radio program. Jose was at the Valencia Superior Courthouse on a speed ticket. He was cited for doing 95 MPH on the freeway one morning, on his way to work. He planned to enter a guilty plea, hoping that the judge would allow him to attend traffic school.

I put Jose on the phone with Ray and Todd. Jose was quick to admit that he had broken God's Law and that he was presently in a relationship that was not pleasing to the Lord.

Jose and I spent about twenty minutes talking after he got off the phone with Ray and Todd. Please click here and take the time to listen to my follow-up conversation with Jose.

Toward the end of our conversation, not wanting anything to distract from what I believed the Lord was doing, I turned off my recorder. I pleaded with Jose to cry out to God in repentance and faith.

And then...

Jose bowed his head and prayed. As he wiped the tears off his cheeks, he asked God to forgive him for his sins against Him. He professed his love for and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

When Jose finished praying, I put my hand on his shoulder and prayed for him. I prayed that what we were seeing in Jose was, in deed, genuine repentance and faith. I asked the Lord to give Jose the faith and the courage to end the relationship that was clearly inconsistent with the Word and will of God. I prayed that Jose would grow in his love for the Lord and the truth of His Word, and that he would truly begin to love the things that God loves and hate the things that God hates.

I gave Jose a copy of "How To Live Forever Without Being Religious." Inside the front cover, I wrote my name, e-mail address, and office phone number. I stressed to Jose the importance of finding a good, Bible-teaching, Bible-believing church. I told him that if he wanted help finding such a church close to where he lived that I would be more than happy to help. I also told him that if he had any questions, needed prayer, or just wanted to talk that he shouldn't hesitate to give me a call.

By the time we said our good-byes, there wasn't enough time to find a guest for the second hour of the program. I called the studio and talked to "Hip-Hop." I told him what had happened with Jose.

"Hip-Hop" put me on hold for a few moments while he brought Todd up to speed. When "Hip-Hop" came back on the line, all he said was, "Todd says, 'Don't move!'"

A few minutes later, I talked to Todd on-air about my follow-up conversation with Jose. I found it difficult to keep my emotions in check.

I thank God for allowing me and Ian to watch Him work, today. It was a great afternoon of "fishing."

Please pray for Jose. Pray that his repentance and faith is genuine and that he grows in his love for and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wow, what an Amazing God. Still praying for Jose, praying that his repentance is genuine and that God will give him the strength to break off his relationship with his girlfriend.

Brother Miano,
My spirit leaps for joy when I hear the stories like this one. God bless you. Maybe in the near future I will be able to attend one of the Ambassador's Academy sessions. Until then I will continue to pray for you and the ministries of Living Waters. God Bless.

Tony,

What's left to say?! When God has prepared the heart and is drawing the sinner to Himself, that is the most amazing act of love. That the Almighty God would die for us as filthy rebellious sinners, who have no desire for Him because of the fact the we were dead in our sin, should cause us to fall on our face and worship Him with all reverence. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you in this way. You are an inspiration to all of us street evangelists out here in the trenches. Jose, we will be praying for you our new brother in Christ. Take care and God bless!

Greg

I did listen to the show that day and had to fight back tears when I heard what happened to Jose, went to sleep that night and prayed for him. I do not know him and am on the other side of the world, but hearing what God did for him that day made my day.... keep doing what you are doing.. God bless

TONY. !!!!!TONY TONY TONY!!!!!

I just read this account about Jose TODAY. I listened to the all the audio TODAY. (July 28, six days later).

But earlier, much earlier this morning, from about 1:30 to 3:30 am, I was on the phone with my husband's best friend "Rick".

Tony--our best friend Rick is another Jose!

Rick was saying the SAME things Jose did!

He was asking me the SAME questions!

I was pulling out the SAME words from Scripture as you did!

I told him the SAME things YOU told him!

Your conversation with Jose was like my conversation with Rick all over again! Incredible!

(although, yours happened first, technically).

So guess what? I just emailed Rick the link to this blog entry, and attached the two mp3 files of the WOTM Radio episodes, telling him which minute to start listening at. I urged him like crazy to read and listen to this.

I felt kind of down earlier today--I said to my husband, "Todd Friel could have said what I said, but so much better!"

But then I heard YOU say it to Jose, SO MUCH BETTER.

What a gift! It's like you'll be preaching to...TWO Jose's for the price of one!

God BLESS you!
